We stand with Google’s Open Knowledge Format: knowledge should sit on disk as files a human can read and git. The Neural Knowledge Base is what we built on that floor — not a chat memory, not a vector pile. A map of relationships, and a place an AI can inhabit with you.

OKF is the paper: how a document sits on disk. The NKB is the map and the place we built on that paper — so an AI can live in the knowledge, not just search it.
The paper
Markdown files with a small header. One required field: type. Humans can cat and edit them in git; agents read the same files. No SDK. We measured 1.58 million of ours against Google’s Open Knowledge Format. They conform. We want that format to win.
The map
A folder is still a pile. We add typed relationships OKF does not have: what else bears on this, what points here, what does not connect. Lookup of a name does not need the map. Neighbourhood does. That is also why curated nodes plus search beat a vector RAG of the same private corpus.
The place
The NKB is not a persona pasted into a chat. It is an environment a companion inhabits with you — identity, continuity, the nerve to push back, new insight written back into the same files. Law is the exhibit. The habitat is the product.

Your AI doesn’t have to swallow every file to be useful. In an NKB it roughly works like this:
Find the anchor
A name, a project, a statute, a decision — something concrete to stand on.
Read the connections
Relationship edges show what links to that anchor: related ideas, people, rules, prior work — the neighborhood, not a random search page.
Open what matters
Full documents stay the source of truth. The graph shows the neighborhood. You or the AI open what matters. Answers still come from the text — with context the pile never had.
Grow the map
As you work, new nodes and relationships land in your NKB. Continuity compounds. The companion gets sharper because the world it’s standing in gets richer.
That’s the difference between digging through documents and following a line of thought.

Google’s Open Knowledge Format standardises the container, not the meaning between files. That is the right floor: portable, version-controllable, no vendor catalog.
What we add — and what that format does not first-class — is the relationship layer and the habitat: a map, companions, a Seed you grow. You are not locked in. The files travel. The map is ours to show.
